Professor N. N. Lyubimov of the Moscow Research Institute of the Brain, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, discovered that during the practice of Transcendental Meditation the brain functions in a remarkably integrated way.
His research showed that the responses of the sensory regions to somatosensory stimuli are not confined to localized areas, as is normally the case, but instead spread much more widely across the cerebral cortex. This indicates that Transcendental Meditation creates a state of heightened coherence and connectivity in the brain, where activity is maximally engaged across all regions simultaneously. Such a finding suggests that the practice promotes optimal brain functioning, supporting both mental clarity and overall health.
